A tragic incident occurred in Coventry on Monday when a woman in her 30s was fatally attacked by her pet dog. The attack took place inside a property on Wexford Road around 12:15 BST, according to the ambulance service.

The woman was discovered in a critical condition inside the building. Due to safety concerns, police officers assisted in quickly moving her outside. Despite receiving advanced life support from paramedics, she died shortly after.

West Midlands Police reported that the dog involved in the attack has been seized and the woman’s death has been referred to the coroner for further investigation.

The breed of the dog has yet to be confirmed, though it is not believed to be one of the banned breeds. Authorities will conduct a full assessment to confirm this.

West Midlands Ambulance Service deployed two ambulances, a paramedic officer, and two air ambulances to the scene. The first ambulance arrived within six minutes of the call.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service stated, “With help from police, the woman was rapidly removed from the property due to safety concerns.” Despite the paramedics’ best efforts, they were unable to save her, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured in the attack.
