1) Training a dogs is a lot more easier:

One reason why dogs are popular is that they are easier to train compared to cats. Dogs can be taught tricks, manners, behaviors and commands. They can do this for protection and safety, obedience, and even simple entertainment. Dogs love training because they love having tasks and being part of a pack. Some cats can be trained, but as soon as they endure it, they will knock the treat out of your hand and run away with it.

2) Dogs can provide protection:

Dogs will protect your home from burglars and strangers, but cats will not. They are shy and tend to run away when someone strange comes in. Even the smallest dogs have heart and their audible bark is enough to break some burglars into someone else’s home. Many dogs will even wake you up if there is a fire, which is practically unthinkable for a cat.

3) Dog are Loyal:

Dogs are sometimes better than cats. There’s a reason dogs are called man’s best friend. They tilt their heads and try to understand your every word while trying to make you feel better when you’re sad. Cats will just ignore you and take another nap. Dogs are such social creatures that their relaxed owners have lower blood pressure and longer lifespans, even when they live alone, compared to those who don’t own pets at all.

Dogs need to walk, which means you probably can too. Walking is a form of low-impact cardio that does wonders for your legs, lower back, and midsection. One study even found that seniors who owned dogs walked an average distance of one mile per day.

5) Dogs come in all sizes:

You can fill your tiny apartment with the relentless heart of a Chihuahua or have majestic Pyrenees roaming your mansion. Somewhere on the scale, there’s a dog size to suit your needs and preferences.

6) Dogs are crime-fighting and heroes:

The sophisticated noses of dogs make them very useful for all kinds of crime-fighting applicants, whether it’s manhunts for fugitives, locating missing children or sniffing out bombs. Medical applications are also being explored. Scientists at the University of Pennsylvania are training German Shepards and Golden Retrievers on how to detect ovarian cancer.

7) Dogs can prevent asthma and allergies:

Children exposed to “dog dust” may have a lower risk of developing asthma and allergies later in life. This is based on studies in mice. Dog dust appears to have microbes that affect how many immune cells respond to allergens.
