On her shoulders, a fleeing Ukrainian woman carries a huge aged dog 10 km across the border.
According to the United Nations, more than two million Ukrainians have left the conflict…
A Ukrainian woman fled the nation while carrying her elderly dog on her shoulders for ten kilometres, and she has been praised for her courage and kindness.
In a first-person story published by The Guardian, the woman in question, Alisa, described her treacherous voyage.
On February 23, she abruptly lost her father, and the next day, Russia declared war on the country.

Alisa stated that many people were leaving Kyiv, while she and her husband were “all over the city” arranging the funeral documents for her father’s burial.
“We gathered nearly all the documents, booked a restaurant for a memorial service, but the crematorium refused to welcome anyone because the registry office was evacuated and we were missing one final document,” she explained.
Alisa is also a Python programmer and works for a German company that assisted her in relocating to Poland with her family and two enormous dogs, one of which was an elderly German shepherd.
Her husband, however, was unable to cross the border due to his age and “the mobilization order.”
While driving a Peugeot 307, she stated that it was difficult to manoeuvre around the vehicle.
“We drove for 16 hours to a town approximately 140 kilometers from Kyiv…
Alisa stated, “We decided to leave the village later in the morning because even there it was risky.”
She proceeded by stating that there were many cars near Poland’s border and that she and her family couldn’t stay in the car for the “next three – or five” days, which drove them to walk 10 kilometres in minus seven-degree temperatures at 4 a.m.
The 12-and-a-half-year-old German shepherd struggled to walk, fell every kilometer, and was unable to get back up. People refused Alisa’s request for assistance and advised her to leave the dogs behind.
In the latter portion of her writing, she discusses the challenges she had when attempting to escape the nation.
“At first, I had to say goodbye to my dad, and now I have to say goodbye to my husband. My husband plays a significant role in who I am; in addition to being my best friend, he is also my assistant and my advisor. The limitless love that we have is what bolsters me at this time.
Check out the following responses that individuals have given in response to her tenacity:
After successfully raising £35,000 to support the pets of Ukrainian refugees who arrived in Romania, the animal welfare organisation Underdog International praised the British public for their support. On February 26, two days after the Russian invasion, the charitable organization kicked off a fundraising campaign.
