A Rescued cat bonds with sister during birth, displayed remarkable eagerness to support her sister, refusing to leave her side throughout the entire process.
Two inseparable feline sisters found themselves in an animal shelter following an owner surrender. One of the sisters, Soda, was heavily pregnant, while the other, Sonya, remained devotedly attached to her, incessantly comforting her by kneading on her belly.
Recognizing the unbreakable bond between the two, a volunteer reached out to Be Their Voice Animal Rescue, pleading for them to take both cats into their care.
Be Their Voice Animal Rescue immediately sprang into action, ensuring Soda’s comfort before she gave birth. Recognizing the profound connection between the two sisters, they refused to consider separating them.
A compassionate foster family welcomed the bonded sisters into their home, preparing a cozy birthing space for Soda. She found solace in the safe environment provided by her foster family.
When Soda went into labor a few days later, Sonya remained by her side, acting as her supportive companion throughout the birthing process. Sonya’s eagerness to assist sometimes bordered on being overly enthusiastic, prompting Soda to gently push her away to give herself space.
Recognizing the need for focus during labor, Sonya was temporarily removed from the birthing area. Despite the brief separation, Sonya remained dedicated to supporting Soda in every way possible.
After delivering four healthy kittens, with one unfortunately not viable, Soda and Sonya continued to shower the newborns with love and care. Sonya, in particular, took on the role of caring for the kittens whenever Soda needed a break.
The sisters, along with their newborns, formed a heartwarming family unit, with Sonya readily accepting an orphaned tortie kitten of the same age as Soda’s litter. The tortie, named Norrie Jr, was embraced by Soda and Sonya as one of their own, completing their family.
As the kittens continue to grow and thrive under the watchful care of Soda and Sonya, the two sisters remain inseparable, enjoying each other’s company and support.
Once the kittens reach independence, Soda and Sonya will retire from motherhood, content in the knowledge that they will always have each other’s companionship.
