Goose making it very clear that dad’s attention belongs to him only
Every dog parent knows the struggle: introducing a new pet into the home can sometimes trigger jealousy, even when the dogs are otherwise best friends. This hilarious video proves just how dramatic that jealousy can get — especially when it involves a rescue Chocolate Labrador who refuses to share his favorite human.
Meet Goose, the possessive rescue pup who stole the internet’s heart with his over-the-top reaction to dad talking to his little brother.
The Dramatic Moment Goose Couldn’t Handle Sharing Dad
In a funny video shared by his family (@lesliebaker321 on Instagram), Goose’s dad Ray starts sweetly talking to their French Bulldog, MoMo. The second Ray says “MoMo, hi bud! Hi!”, Goose immediately launches into full jealousy mode.
The big Chocolate Labrador climbs up and begins showering his dad’s face with intense licks and kisses, clearly trying to steal the attention back. When Ray calmly explains, “Goose, it’s okay. I can talk to MoMo, I can!”, Goose pauses for just a second… before dramatically reaching up with his paw and swatting his dad’s glasses clean off his face.
The entire family bursts out laughing, and you can’t blame them — the timing and attitude were perfect.
The on-screen drama and Goose’s petty reaction have made this one of the funniest jealous dog videos of the month.
Why This Rescue Dog Is So Possessive of His Dad
According to the family’s caption, Goose is a recent rescue who has only been with them for a couple of months. In that short time, he has formed an incredibly strong bond with Ray and is “a little possessive and just a tiny bit jealous” of his little brother MoMo.
Despite the jealousy flare-up, the two dogs are actually great friends most of the time. The owners shared that Goose and MoMo play together and get along well — Goose just doesn’t like sharing his dad’s affection.
This behavior is very common in rescue dogs who are still adjusting to their new forever home. After possibly spending time without consistent love, many rescues become extra attached to their primary person and can show signs of jealousy when attention shifts.
Common Signs of Jealousy in Dogs
Dog jealousy looks different for every pup, but here are some classic signs many owners recognize:
- Excessive licking or nudging to get attention
- Pushing between you and another person/pet
- Paw swatting or gentle “boops”
- Whining, barking, or dramatic sighs
- Stealing toys or objects to redirect focus
Goose’s glasses-swatting moment is a perfect (and hilarious) example of a dog using creative tactics to say “Pay attention to me!”
Chocolate Labrador Personality & Rescue Dog Behavior
Chocolate Labradors are known for being affectionate, energetic, and people-oriented. As one of the most popular dog breeds, Labs thrive on human companionship and often form very deep bonds with their families.
Rescue dogs like Goose may show stronger attachment behaviors because they’re making up for lost time. With patience, training, and consistent love, most jealous behaviors fade as the dog gains confidence in their place in the family.
Tips for Managing Jealousy Between Dogs
If your dog shows jealousy toward a new pet, baby, or family member, try these practical strategies:
- Give Individual Attention — Make sure each dog gets one-on-one time with you daily.
- Equal Praise & Rewards — Avoid giving one dog more attention in front of the other.
- Teach “Place” Commands — Give your jealous dog a special spot or mat where they can relax during interactions.
- Positive Reinforcement — Reward calm behavior when another pet is getting attention.
- Increase Exercise — Tired dogs are less likely to act out from jealousy.
- Consult a Trainer — If jealousy becomes intense or aggressive, professional help can make a big difference.
Building security and trust takes time — especially with rescue dogs who may have had unstable pasts.
